Languages With A TwistThe App
Speed up progress with our app
Every word that comes up in your lesson is on your phone before you get home — with real-life example sentences and pro tips made by our team!
dát si
to have (food or drink)
Example
Dám si pivo.
I'll have a beer.
Pro tip
Czechs almost never say chci in a restaurant — it lands as a demand. Use dám si.
Combine in-person and online learning
Lessons Don't End When You Leave Class
As we build both our teacher and student software, during the class your teacher adds the vocab that comes up and it immediately shows up in your student app!
No Need To Take Notes
You don't need to take notes (unless you want to!) — all the words from each class are added by your teacher to your app after each class.
Human-Made Examples & Tips
Each word comes with examples and pro tips made by our expert team — no AI rubbish here!
Never Lose A Lesson
See the history of all your lessons in the app, from Lesson 1 to Lesson 50 — with the ability to revise a specific lesson or the whole course.
How the app works
Learn, Revise, Lessons & Library
Learn, revise and keep all the vocab you need to be conversationally fluent — with human-made translations and pro tips all made by our awesome team!
Learn Words Used Most Frequently In Real Life
The learn tab contains the 3 000 words you need for 95% of daily conversation, organised by level — simply choose the right level for you and start learning!
- Learn the 3 000 words used for 95% of conversation
- Save words you don't know to your revision list
- Skip words you already know (they'll still be in the library if you need them!)
And Make Sure You Remember Them!
Everything you save from the learn tab goes to your revision list. Simply revise and say if you got the word right or wrong, and the app keeps track of which words you find hard and shows you them more often!
- Revise all words with one click
- Per-word accuracy, so you can see which words you find hard
- Remove words from your revision list once you know them
All Your Lessons In One Place
If you have in-person lessons with us, you'll get the lessons tab where you'll see the vocab from each lesson, organised by lesson!
- All vocab added by your teacher before you get home
- Revise a specific lesson or all lessons together
- Add words you like to your personal revision list
Our Human-Made Dictionary
Our full dictionary, with instant search that even works offline! If a word isn't in there yet, submit it and we'll translate it properly and add it for all users!
- Search across your native language or target language at once — synonyms included
- Expand a word to see examples, pro tips and synonyms
- Add missing words — we review them, then add them for all users
Each word done properly
What's actually on a word card
Each word entry is written by our team with no AI help. Thousands of words, all with full metadata, pro tips, and fun example sentences.
objevit se
to turn up
Example 1 of 2
Objevil se o hodinu později.
He turned up an hour late.
Pro tip
Objevit se is what Czechs say when someone simply arrives. Přijít is the neutral “to come” — it says nothing about the person being unexpected.
Synonym 1 of 2
ukázat se
Ukázala se bez zavolání.
She showed up without calling.

How Often You'll Hear It
Every word carries its real-world frequency — 30+/day down to rarely. You always know whether something is worth the effort.
Info About The Word
Part of speech and the level it belongs to, at a glance. Czech verbs also show which aspect you're looking at, and irregular forms are flagged inside the tables below.
Human-made example sentences
Written by our team, in both languages, about something a person would actually say — never machine-translated. Most words carry more than one, so you can swipe between them.
Pro Tips And Synonyms
The pro tip is what a native speaker would find odd about the obvious answer — the twist the company is named after. Synonyms sit right beneath it, each with its own example sentence, because seeing one used is what tells you it isn't quite the word you just learnt.
Cases & conjugation tables
Nouns get all seven cases, singular and plural. Verbs get their conjugations. Both sit behind a toggle, so the card stays short until you want the grammar.
Made for you
Made from scratch for your native language
A Czech speaker learning English and an English speaker learning Czech do not make the same mistakes. So they don't get the same app.

English Speaker → Czech
Every noun carries its full case table, singular and plural — the thing English gives you no instinct for. The pro tips are written for an English speaker, by people who teach them this all day.

Czech Speaker → English
The whole app is in Czech, down to the word-type and frequency labels. Cards lead with the Czech, and the pro tips are a different set — written against the mistakes Czech speakers actually make.
Spanish, French, German and Italian are on the same system, at varying stages of being written up.
Works With No Signal
Everything in the app works offline, so you can learn and revise your vocab from anywhere. On a flight or hiking through the desert, your words are always with you.
Totally Free
None of the app is gated behind a payment screen. All the words, in every language, are completely free. Telling your friends about our school and app is payment enough!
No Gamification
We don't like the Duolingo approach of gamifying everything. Our courses and our app are for adults, and we treat you as one.
Lesson Integration
If you're having lessons with us, sign up with the same email your teacher has for you — and the vocab from your lessons appears in a new tab, all on its own.
Use the app by itself, or together with your lessons.
You can use the app even if you don't have lessons with us, and simply learn the 3,000 most used words in your target language. Or, for maximum progress, sign up for lessons with us and use the app to revise all the vocab from them too.
