“Very satisfied with the summer group course led by Jacob. There are only 3 of us in the group, so everyone gets a chance to speak, the 90 minute lesson goes by like water every week and most importantly it's fun!”
“The best English lessons I've ever had. I enjoyed the lessons, they unlearn past mistakes, the classes are fun and Jacob is a great teacher. I wish I could go more than once a week!”
“What can I say, this best language course I've ever taken. After a few weeks I see improvements in myself that didn't show up after months in other courses. The classes don't bore me either.”
Our Method
Classes For Every Level
We have a clear long-term plan of how to get our students from their current level to a practically perfect conversational level as efficiently as possible. Our Spanish courses are starting from scratch in the spring semester, so the first groups are beginner groups - and the levels below are the path they follow from there.
Beginner
Nothing → good enough
999words learnt

- The top 10 most used verbs and essential parts of speech
- Essential modal verbs (can & have to), pronouns and questions
- How to count, order in restaurants, and pronunciation rules
Beginner II
- All verb types and most-used tenses
- How to make longer sentences with “in order to”, two verbs together etc
- Comparatives, advanced pronouns (one/ones, each other) and relative clauses
Beginner III
- More modal verbs (should, supposed to, modals of certainty)
- Gerunds, participles and more verb types
- Clauses deep dive & fun how to topics (how to swear, talk in a pub etc)

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
When do the Spanish courses start?
Our first Spanish group starts in the spring semester, on Tuesday 26 January 2027, running 19:00-20:30 every Tuesday for twelve lessons. That is the only Spanish group this semester - see the timetable above for the dates, including any weeks it skips for state holidays.
Individual Spanish lessons can start any week you like, and are not tied to a semester.
Do I need to know any Spanish already?
No. The spring group is a Beginner I course and starts from nothing at all, so it is the right place to be if you have never studied Spanish.
If you already know some Spanish and are not sure which level you belong in, book a free online call and we will work it out with you before you pay for anything.
Is this Spanish from Spain or Latin America?
Latin American Spanish. Diego, who teaches the intermediate and advanced courses, is from Chile, and the whole course is built around the Spanish spoken across Latin America rather than in Spain.
In practice the main thing this changes for a beginner is that we do not teach the vosotros forms, which are not used in Latin America. Everything else you learn is understood perfectly well on both sides of the Atlantic.
Shouldn't I have a native Spanish person teach me Spanish?
Our beginner courses are taught by Jacob, our British founder, and our intermediate and advanced courses are taught by Diego, a native speaker from Chile.
We think there are some big advantages to having a British teacher for the beginner courses. He knows what is hard and why it feels hard to people with English brains - and how to explain it in a way that makes sense to English speakers. He is also a highly experienced teacher who is able to explain complex topics in a down-to-earth way. And as he has already learnt the language himself, he can be quite sure the method works, because he used it on himself.
If you're not sure whether you would rather start with Jacob or a native speaker, book a free online call and ask us about it — there's nothing to pay and nothing to commit to.
How big are the Spanish group classes?
6-10 students, the same as our Czech courses. They are beginner courses rather than conversation-driven ones, so a bigger group works perfectly well - unlike our English group classes, which run with 3-5 students because those lessons are built around everyone getting plenty of speaking time.
How do cancellations work?
Individual Classes
If you are unable to attend your regular lesson time (which is agreed on before paying for the classes), you're very welcome to contact us to see if it's possible to reschedule. While we'll always do our best to help, alternative times can't be guaranteed. If no suitable availability is possible, the lesson will be lost.
Pair Classes
The same as individual classes - if both students aren't able to make the usual time you can try to rearrange the class. If no rearrangement is possible the lesson will be lost.
If just one student comes to class the other student simply misses out on the class.
Group Classes
If you miss a group class you simply lose the lesson. We do not offer the option to join another group to make up for the lost lesson.
How does paying for lessons work?
Once you choose a lesson package and agree on a lesson time you will receive an invoice with a QR payment link for the full lesson package. All lesson packages are paid for in full up front.
We do not offer the option to pay in instalments or monthly.
Where do in-person classes take place?
In-person classes take place in our modern office in Žižkov, Prague (right by the Lipanská tram stop, about 10 minutes from Wenceslas Square). Individual lessons can also take place at a pre-arranged place in central Prague (potential extra travel fee for longer travel).
How do online classes work?
Our online classes take place on Google Meet. After buying a package and choosing a lesson time you will receive a weekly calendar event which contains the link to the lesson - there's nothing for you to do as the event will show up in your calendar automatically!
Do you do exam preparation?
No. Our courses are based on improving your real-life communication skills as fast as possible. For exam preparation we recommend you find a teacher or school that specialises in such exams. If you're interested in real-life improvements in lessons that get straight to the point then we recommend learning with us!
Do you also have 90min individual lessons?
Individual classes are organised into 60min blocks in order to keep simple scheduling, but for special cases we can arrange 90min classes if it works with the schedule. 90min classes are simply 1.5x the cost of 60min classes.
Do you teach children?
No. Our courses are designed for adults and we have no classes for children or plans to teach children in the future.
Do you teach in-company classes too?
We offer in-company classes on a case-by-case basis, with customised prices based on number of students, location and lesson type.
I paid for a package but now I'm going on holiday
If you buy an individual lesson package and then go on holiday we can offer you online lessons while you're on holiday at the same lesson time. If you bought a group package you will lose those lessons.
Do the stated prices include VAT/DPH?
Languages With A Twist is not a VAT-payer, so the stated prices are the final prices you pay, with no extra taxes or VAT added to the invoice.
Can I get an invoice for the lessons?
Yes - in fact all students receive an invoice for their lessons.
Can I pay for lessons through my company?
Yes, that is fine - just give us the company details to add to the invoice.
Can I pay through benefits points?
Not currently.
Not Sure Which Level You're At?
Neither is anyone, and guessing wrong wastes a semester. Send a message and we'll arrange a free call to check your level and point you at the right course.
