Who This Course Is For
This is the course we recommend 95% of our students to start with. If you're any kind of intermediate speaker this is the course for you!
This is you if…
- You are an intermediate English speaker (B1-B2+)
- You are able to have conversations in English, but you know you often make mistakes
- You are over 18 years old (we don't teach people under 18, sorry!)
Try a different level if…
- You are not able to have a conversation in English for 90 minutes — try a beginner course
- You are 100% confident in all the tenses, conditionals and modal verbs, and very rarely make mistakes — try an advanced course
Still not sure? Book a free online call and we'll check your level with you — it's free and nothing is charged.

Where are the lessons?
In our office in Žižkov, Prague — a few steps away from the Lipanská tram stop, about 10 minutes from Wenceslas Square. The exact address will be given after you pay for the course.
What if I miss a class?
If you miss a class then you simply lose that lesson — but you still get all the vocab from that lesson in your app, and we'll send you any homework from that class so you don't get behind!
Who will my classmates be?
Our lessons are three to five students, all 18 or over, and we make sure you're all at a similar level. We have online calls with every student before they start to make sure the level is right and everyone is nice!
What do I need to bring?
We recommend bringing a notepad and pen — as taking notes has been proven to help you remember things! We provide everything else you will need, including our beautiful summary leaflets!

Learn From An Expert
Meet Your Teacher
All our English courses are taught by our founder, Jacob, who has been teaching English to Czechs since 2014 and is great at explaining topics in simple terms for everyday people.
Expert British Teacher
Since 2014, Jacob has taught English to hundreds of Czech people, trained over a hundred teachers, written two English grammar books, founded the best-rated corporate language school in the Czech Republic, and perfected the explanations and examples of how every English topic works differently from Czech.
Speaks Czech
Thanks to having spent the last decade learning Czech to a conversationally fluent level, Jacob knows what it's like to learn a language, is able to teach Czechs of any level, and has a deep understanding of why Czechs make the English mistakes they do - and can fix them ASAP!

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do cancellations work?
Individual Classes
If you are unable to attend your regular lesson time (which is agreed on before paying for the classes), you're very welcome to contact Jacob to see if it's possible to reschedule. While we'll always do our best to help, alternative times can't be guaranteed. If no suitable availability is possible, the lesson will be lost.
Pair Classes
The same as individual classes - if both students aren't able to make the usual time you can try to rearrange the class with Jacob. If no rearrangement is possible the lesson will be lost.
If just one student comes to class the other student simply misses out on the class.
Group Classes
If you miss a group class you simply lose the lesson. We do not offer the option to join another group to make up for the lost lesson.
How does paying for lessons work?
Once you choose a lesson package and agree on a lesson time you will receive an invoice with a QR payment link for the full lesson package. All lesson packages are paid for in full up front.
We do not offer the option to pay in instalments or monthly.
Where do in-person classes take place?
In-person classes take place in our modern office in Žižkov, Prague (right by the Lipanská tram stop, about 10 minutes from Wenceslas Square). Individual lessons can also take place at a pre-arranged place in central Prague (potential extra travel fee for longer travel).
How do online classes work?
Our online classes take place on Google Meet. After buying a package and choosing a lesson time you will receive a weekly calendar event which contains the link to the lesson - there's nothing for you to do as the event will show up in your calendar automatically! We also put the link to the Google Doc for your lesson notes in the same event!
Do you do exam preparation (FCE, CAE etc)?
No. Our courses are based on improving your real-life communication skills as fast as possible. Exams such as FCE and CAE are very specific and studying for them is as much about learning how to answer questions in the way they want as it is about your actual level of English. For exam preparation we recommend you find a teacher or school that specialises in such exams. If you're interested in real-life improvements in lessons that get straight to the point then we recommend learning with us!
Do you also have 90min individual lessons?
Jacob's individual classes are organised into 60min blocks in order to keep simple scheduling, but for special cases we can arrange 90min classes if it works with the schedule. 90min classes are simply 1.5x the cost of 60min classes.
Do you teach children?
No. Our courses are designed for adults and we have no classes for children or plans to teach children in the future.
Do you teach in-company classes too?
We offer in-company classes on a case-by-case basis, with customised prices based on number of students, location and lesson type.
I paid for a package but now I'm going on holiday
If you buy an individual lesson package and then go on holiday we can offer you online lessons while you're on holiday at the same lesson time. If you bought a group package you will lose those lessons.
Do the stated prices include VAT/DPH?
Languages With A Twist is not a VAT-payer, so the stated prices are the final prices you pay, with no extra taxes or VAT added to the invoice.
Can I get an invoice for the lessons?
Yes - in fact all students receive an invoice for their lessons.
Can I pay for lessons through my company?
Yes, that is fine - just give us the company details to add to the invoice.
Can I pay through benefits points?
Not currently.
How good is Jacob's Czech?
Jacob has been learning Czech for ten years and is often complimented by Czechs on his level. If declension didn't exist his level would be advanced. As declension exists, he makes a lot of declension mistakes but has a practically fluent level for day to day communication.
