Who This Course Is For

We will check your level anyway in the free online call after you send your booking request, but here is an idea of if this course is right for you!

This is you if…

  • You're starting from nothing, or from school lessons you've long since forgotten
  • You can maybe order a coffee, but a full sentence still has to be assembled first
  • You want the useful 80% — the top verbs, the tenses people actually say, how to count and order and ask
  • You'd rather be understood next month than perfect next year

Try a different level if…

  • You already hold conversations and just make mistakes in them — that's Intermediate
  • You're after specific gaps rather than the whole foundation

Still not sure? Book a free online call and we'll check your level with you — it's free and nothing is charged.

Who will my classmates be?

Our lessons are six to ten students, all 18 or over, and we make sure you're all at a similar level. We have online calls with every student before they start to make sure the level is right and everyone is nice!

Claire, who teaches our French courses

Learn From An Expert

Meet Your Teacher

All our French courses are taught by Claire, a bilingual French and English speaker who has spent years teaching both languages.

Bilingual French Teacher

Claire is bilingual in French and English, with a very nice clear French accent. From the first lesson you hear French as it is actually spoken, from someone who can switch into English the moment an explanation needs it.

Teaches English Too

Claire has spent years teaching English in addition to French, thanks to which she knows how things work in both languages and how to explain everything in a way that makes sense to English speakers.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When do the French courses start?

Our first French group starts in the spring semester, on Thursday 28 January 2027, running 17:15-18:45 every Thursday for twelve lessons. That is the only French group this semester - see the timetable above for the dates, including any weeks it skips for state holidays.

Individual French lessons can start any week you like, and are not tied to a semester.

Do I need to know any French already?

No. The spring group is a Beginner I course and starts from nothing at all, so it is the right place to be if you have never studied French.

If you already know some French and are not sure which level you belong in, book a free online call and we will work it out with you before you pay for anything.

Shouldn't I have a native French person teach me French?

You will - Claire is a native French speaker with a very clear accent, and she teaches every level of our French course.

What makes her unusual is that she has also spent years teaching English, so she knows both languages from the inside. That is what lets her explain why French does something differently rather than only telling you that it does.

How big are the French group classes?

6-10 students, the same as our Czech courses. They are beginner courses rather than conversation-driven ones, so a bigger group works perfectly well - unlike our English group classes, which run with 3-5 students because those lessons are built around everyone getting plenty of speaking time.

How do cancellations work?

Individual Classes

If you are unable to attend your regular lesson time (which is agreed on before paying for the classes), you're very welcome to contact us to see if it's possible to reschedule. While we'll always do our best to help, alternative times can't be guaranteed. If no suitable availability is possible, the lesson will be lost.

Pair Classes

The same as individual classes - if both students aren't able to make the usual time you can try to rearrange the class. If no rearrangement is possible the lesson will be lost.

If just one student comes to class the other student simply misses out on the class.

Group Classes

If you miss a group class you simply lose the lesson. We do not offer the option to join another group to make up for the lost lesson.

How does paying for lessons work?

Once you choose a lesson package and agree on a lesson time you will receive an invoice with a QR payment link for the full lesson package. All lesson packages are paid for in full up front.

We do not offer the option to pay in instalments or monthly.

Where do in-person classes take place?

In-person classes take place in our modern office in Žižkov, Prague (right by the Lipanská tram stop, about 10 minutes from Wenceslas Square). Individual lessons can also take place at a pre-arranged place in central Prague (potential extra travel fee for longer travel).

How do online classes work?

Our online classes take place on Google Meet. After buying a package and choosing a lesson time you will receive a weekly calendar event which contains the link to the lesson - there's nothing for you to do as the event will show up in your calendar automatically!

Do you do exam preparation?

No. Our courses are based on improving your real-life communication skills as fast as possible. For exam preparation we recommend you find a teacher or school that specialises in such exams. If you're interested in real-life improvements in lessons that get straight to the point then we recommend learning with us!

Do you also have 90min individual lessons?

Individual classes are organised into 60min blocks in order to keep simple scheduling, but for special cases we can arrange 90min classes if it works with the schedule. 90min classes are simply 1.5x the cost of 60min classes.

Do you teach children?

No. Our courses are designed for adults and we have no classes for children or plans to teach children in the future.

Do you teach in-company classes too?

We offer in-company classes on a case-by-case basis, with customised prices based on number of students, location and lesson type.

I paid for a package but now I'm going on holiday

If you buy an individual lesson package and then go on holiday we can offer you online lessons while you're on holiday at the same lesson time. If you bought a group package you will lose those lessons.

Do the stated prices include VAT/DPH?

Languages With A Twist is not a VAT-payer, so the stated prices are the final prices you pay, with no extra taxes or VAT added to the invoice.

Can I get an invoice for the lessons?

Yes - in fact all students receive an invoice for their lessons.

Can I pay for lessons through my company?

Yes, that is fine - just give us the company details to add to the invoice.

Can I pay through benefits points?

Not currently.
